Supporting technology on the road to sustainability

Helping businesses reach carbon neutrality by 2030. Techies Go Green and the social role of artificial intelligence.

Techies Go Green — a technology community supporting sustainable development

TECHIES GO GREEN / SUSTAINABILITY. Can artificial intelligence help people instead of causing fear? Can technological progress be combined with real emission cuts and better use of resources? The international Techies Go Green community shows that the answer begins not with software promises but with cooperation, measurable results and business responsibility.

More than a thousand companies united by the idea of change

Techies Go Green is a non-profit organisation and business network operating mainly in Ireland and the United Kingdom. It was founded in March 2021 on the initiative of Michael O’Hara and a team of specialists from the technology sector working with him. O’Hara, the organisation’s co-founder, was for years associated with DataSolutions. The movement now brings together more than 1,000 signatory companies, committed to reducing their own carbon footprint.

The organisation develops education, exchange of experience, practical workshops and tools to help estimate emissions. It focuses on energy efficiency, transport, supply chains, waste and a culture of sustainable management. Membership of the network is not in itself proof of achieving carbon neutrality — real progress requires reliable data.

Technology should serve communities

Public debate about artificial intelligence often focuses on the risks: job losses, algorithmic errors, data protection and the rising energy use of data centres. These questions cannot be dismissed. But well-implemented AI tools can also support social and environmental goals.

The examples are concrete: forecasting energy use, identifying waste in industrial processes, optimising logistics, planning maintenance and preparing reports faster. The benefits should, however, be weighed against the computational, environmental and financial costs of the technology itself. The “AI” label alone does not guarantee an environmental result.

Mariusz Biniak: business experience and continuity of commitment

Mariusz Biniak, CEO and managing director of ARGONAUTS MEDIA GROUP LIMITED in London, presents his involvement in the Techies Go Green idea as part of his long-standing commitment to developing technology for business. According to the publisher’s management, Mariusz Biniak has taken part in the initiative since 2021 — previously through his activities with Polish Yellow Pages Ltd, among others, and now developing ventures under the Argonauts Media Group brand.

The management’s business history goes back to 1991. It includes developing business information, B2B and B2C databases, marketing tools and solutions for companies. ARGONAUTS MEDIA GROUP LIMITED was registered in the UK in 2026 and is a new stage of this activity. The date of its registration should not be confused with the founder’s earlier professional experience.

What can a Polish business in the UK gain?

Small and medium-sized businesses operating between Poland and the UK need not just green declarations but practical solutions. Analysing energy use, documenting the supply chain transparently, assessing transport costs and keeping operational data in order can cut emissions and improve competitiveness at the same time.

Business cooperation and knowledge sharing between entrepreneurs also help avoid misguided investments. Available tools should be introduced gradually, with staff involvement and with the ability to verify the results.

Carbon neutrality by 2030: an ambitious direction, not an automatic promise

The year 2030 is an important reference point in many companies’ climate strategies. Pursuing neutrality, however, requires properly defining emission boundaries, a reduction plan, reliable measurement and transparent reporting of progress. No industry organisation or AI implementation can replace that work.

Techies Go Green encourages action, not greenwashing: practical skills and verifiable results matter more than marketing claims. From this perspective, AI becomes a tool that supports people and the environment, not an end in itself.

A shared future

Reducing the carbon footprint of the technology sector depends on many decisions: by energy suppliers, management, engineers, customers and public institutions. Business communities that bring these groups together can speed up the exchange of proven solutions.

The key conclusion: there is no need to choose between technological progress and responsibility towards people. What is needed, though, are facts, the right tools and businesses ready to measure their own impact on their surroundings.
