In October, Polish companies rated their situation worse than or the same as in September. This is according to the business tendency survey published by Statistics Poland (GUS) on 22 October 2026. In all the sectors presented, the indicators show deterioration or stabilisation.
Companies in finance and insurance rate their situation best. Their general business climate indicator was plus 29.4, above the long-term average (plus 25.5). Manufacturing firms are the most pessimistic – minus 6.6.
Current assessments worsened most in accommodation and food services. Forecasts, meanwhile, fell most in construction, where the general indicator also deteriorated markedly.
What it means for you
For Polish businesses in the UK that work with manufacturing, construction or hotels in Poland, this is a signal that partners may order more cautiously and pay more slowly. People planning to return to Poland to work in construction should take the weaker mood in the sector into account.
Our assessment
This is a sentiment survey, not hard sales data. Still, we believe the fall in construction forecasts should be taken seriously, as the sector usually reacts to changes earlier than others. Combined with work on new taxes from 2027, firms may hold back investment.
