The Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Manchester is holding passport outreach in Newport on Thursday and Friday, 29–30 October 2026. It will take place at St Julian’s Parish Church, 41 Saint Julian’s Ave, Newport, NP19 7JT. Only passport applications will be accepted.
How to book and what to bring
- Book through e-konsulat: United Kingdom → Newport → passport matters. Bookings opened on 20 October.
- A valid passport or ID card (yours, and for a child’s passport, the child’s as well).
- A photo that meets the requirements on gov.pl.
- A postal order for the fee, made out to “Polish Consulate in Manchester”.
- A prepaid “Next Day Special Delivery” return envelope from the Post Office, one per application.
Fees: a 10-year adult passport £123, reduced £62, for a child aged 12–18 £62, a 5-year passport for a child under 12 £40.
ID cards when entering the UK
Poles with settled or pre-settled status can still enter the UK on a Polish ID card. Biometric ID cards (issued since 8 November 2021) will be accepted indefinitely. Older ones can be used until changes are announced. The earlier date of 31 December 2025 no longer applies.
ETIAS in 2027 – important for dual nationals
ETIAS is a travel authorisation for the Schengen area, due to launch in 2027. It does not apply to Polish citizens. A person with Polish and another citizenship (e.g. British) is treated in Poland as Polish only, so they should enter and leave on a valid Polish passport.
What it means for you
- Families with children born in the UK: a child with Polish citizenship needs a Polish passport, even if they have a British one. First their British birth certificate must be entered in the Polish register.
- Residents of Wales and western England: the Newport outreach saves a day’s travel and the cost of the journey.
Editorial comment
The embassy advises having a passport despite the right to travel on an ID card, and linking it to your status in the UK immigration system. We agree: an ID card is convenient, a passport is certainty at the border.
What to do
- Check the expiry date of your passport and your children’s passports.
- Book an appointment at least 3 months before your document expires or before you travel.
- After collecting your passport, activate it online, or you may have problems at the border.
