Editorial comment
A strong Polish industry means more orders for businesses trading between Poland and the UK – for example parts suppliers, transport and services. Economists note, however, that this is not yet a “boom”. It is worth watching the złoty-to-pound rate: a better economy in Poland may strengthen the złoty, which matters for transfers home.
What to do
- If you import from Poland, ask suppliers about lead times – heavier factory workloads may lengthen them.
- Compare GBP–PLN transfer rates across several services before a larger transfer.
- Follow GUS retail sales data – the next signal of the Polish economy’s health.
