Thousands of troops from Europe will rehearse in Poland the deployment of forces to Ukraine after the war ends, Euronews reported on 3 November 2026. The force, set up in 2025, already has an operational headquarters in Paris; it is not a NATO operation, and US involvement is limited. Below is the Euronews recording (in English).
What it means for you and your family
According to The Times, as cited by British media in October, at least 1,500 troops from the United Kingdom, France and Germany will take part alongside the Polish Armed Forces. They will rehearse moving people and supplies – food and fuel. It is the first large-scale test of a plan meant to give Ukraine security guarantees after a ceasefire.
For Poles in Britain the story is close from both sides: British soldiers will train in Poland, and Poland is becoming the base for a future mission. Families back home may see more military convoys on the roads – a normal part of such exercises, not a reason for alarm. We also covered the exercise in our World section.
The risk
Exercises like this always attract disinformation – fake “leaks” about mobilisation or Poles supposedly being sent to the front. Check official announcements and do not forward unconfirmed messages from messaging apps.
Where to check
- Polish Ministry of National Defence – announcements.
- GOV.UK – Poland travel advice.
