Prime Minister Donald Tusk has ended his visit to India. In New Delhi he held talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and foreign minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, and in Bengaluru with the authorities of Karnataka state. According to the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, the Polish delegation signed 13 agreements. The government has not yet published their detailed content.
In 2025, trade between Poland and India amounted to €6.3 billion. The original plan was to double it by 2030. After the talks, Tusk said that was “not enough” and spoke of tripling trade. Almost 100 Polish companies attended the Polish-Indian Business Forum in New Delhi, and more than 100 firms support the delegation as a whole. The government lists the sectors: IT, space technology, optics, mining, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment and defence. Finance and Economy Minister Andrzej Domański also took part in the visit.
According to the prime minister, India will support Poland’s permanent presence in the G20, and Poland has been invited to the next G20 summit, to be hosted by the United Kingdom. Both sides also discussed the war in Ukraine – the two countries want it to end quickly, although Tusk admitted that India’s position differs from Poland’s.
What it means for Poles in the UK
A G20 summit in the UK is an opportunity for Poland and Britain – both countries with strong ties to India – to discuss trade at the same table. Polish companies operating in the UK can benefit from contacts in both directions: British agreements with India and the Polish agreements signed now.
What it means for you
- IT, space and technology firms: the government is opening doors to the Indian market. It is worth following what the signed agreements cover.
- Exporters: talks on an EU–India trade agreement are ongoing, but the deal has not yet been concluded.
Our assessment
Tripling trade within a few years is an ambitious goal, and without the details of the 13 agreements it is hard to judge how much of it is realistic. We believe the most important signal is the G20 invitation – for Poland it strengthens its position, and for the Polish community in the UK it is an extra reason to follow the summit in Britain closely.
