Key points
On 14 October SpaceX, without warning, introduced speed limits for Starlink terminals in motion (up to about 160 km/h). According to Ukraine’s defence ministry, this hampered military operations, including strike and interceptor drones. Elon Musk said the limits are decided by the US military. The service was restored gradually – as late as 23 October Ukrainian military officials said some restrictions were still in place. Starlink and its military version Starshield are key frontline communications for Ukraine.
